Andrey Pomortsev

Senior researcher of the Laboratory of Genetic Basis of Plant Identification, Head of the testing laboratory, the Vavilov Institute of General Genetics

Born in 05.08.1954 in Kemerovo.

In 1971 entered the Moscow Agricultural Academy named after K.A. Timiryazev, the agronomic faculty, Genetic, Selection and Seed Production Chair.

In 1976 graduated from the Moscow Agricultural Academy named after K.A. Timiryazev with honour and entered a PhD program in the Odessa Genetic Selection Institute.

In 1982 defended Candidate's dissertation on winter barley selection and seed production.

From 1983 to 1984 - Senior researcher of the Genetic, Selection and Crop production Chair.

From 1985 till present - Senior researcher of the Laboratory of Genetic Basis of Plant Identification, Head of the testing laboratory, the Vavilov Institute of General Genetics.

Topical research issues:

• Development of beer and beer-based beverages by mixing of cultures with an accent on forming of “by-products fermentation”;
• Influence of antioxidant and transition metal ions of raw materials to sensory beer stability;
• Online monitoring of malt and barley roasting for purposes of process optimization;
• Formation of oxidative products during hop production;
• Beer filtration with the use of environmentally sound filter aid;
• Cold hopping of beer with the use of innovation methods;
• Oxidizing and recovering of dimethyl sulfide during malt process and beer production;
• Water preparation by crystallization for beer production.

Konstantin Kobelev

Born in 1955.

In 1972 entered the Moscow Technological Food Institute and in 1977 got a diploma “Fermentation technologies”

From December 1980 to 1982 - studied for a PhD and held a doctorate degree in engineering sciences.  

From 2009 till present – Deputy Director for Science in All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Brewing, Alcohol-Free and Wine Production – now a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution “Federal Scientific Center of Food Systems named after V.M. Gorbatov” of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Responsible for beer, kvass, alcohol-free and mineral water production issues.

From 2018 – Deputy Chairman of the Technical Committee for Standardization TK 175 “Beer and beverages”.

In October 2018 defended D.Sc. in engineering.

Was awarded Certificates of Merit for “Dedicated work” by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Russian Academy of Science and Federal Service for Alcohol Market Regulation and the Medal "In Commemoration of the 800th Anniversary of Moscow".
 
An author of 140 scientific papers, 23 of them – the RF patents and one monography.
 

Igor Loskutov

Born in March 17, 1956

Chief Research Associate, Head of Oat, Rye and Barley Genetic Resources Department of the Federal Research Institute of Genetic Resources named after N.I. Vavilov

In November 1978 began working in All-Russian Plant Institute named after N.I. Vavilov as a senior assistant.

From 1981 to 1984 passed a full-time doctoral program in the Federal Research Institute of Genetic Resources named after N.I. Vavilov.

In 1985 defended PhD thesis. Diploma of the Master of Agriculture for selection and seed production.  

In 1991 was on a genetic resources course in the USA led by the famous breeder Dr. Fry, Iowa State University.

In 2004 defended doctoral thesis. Diploma of PhD in biological sciences.

From 2001 till present - Professor of Agro-Chemical Chair of the St.-Petersburg State University.
 
In the last five years gave lectures in Universities and Scientific institutions of China, Brazil, Sweden, Tadzhikistan, Finland, France, Turkey, the Great Britain, and Israel.   
 
Is a member of the editorial board of foreign magazines: Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution, Advances in Plant Sciences Research, Journal of Agricultural Science and Applications, Journal of Biology and Earth Sciences, American Journal of Experimental Agriculture, Mediterranean Journal of Biosciences, Asian Research Journal of Agriculture, Vavilovia.

Pavel Dostálek

Professor of biotechnologies, the Head of brewing and malt laboratory of the Institute of Fermentation Chemistry and Bioengineering, Chemical Technology Institute, Prague, the Editor of Czech food magazine

Prof. Ing. Pavel Dostálek, CSc. –there are only two Czech professors for brewing (commonly with Prof.Ing.Gabriela Basařová, Dr.Sc.)
